White Bread is Not Good for Your Oral Health and Here is Why

Posted on 2/23/2018 by Clay Keith dds
White Bread The Center for Implant and General Dentistry TX 75771A lot of people do not realize that the white bread that is sold in stores is just as harmful to your health and teeth as candy is. Many people think that what they are eating does not have any sugar and that it is not bad for your health. It is just bread, right?

However, when it comes to consuming bread, it is always good to go with a full oat choice, a wheat choice or other choices that are going to cause less damage to the body and oral health of the person. White bread is loaded with many things that are not good for anyone consuming it.

Why White Bread is Bad

When you consume white bread, the amount of sugar and refined carbs that are inside the product are hard on the body. The bacteria that is in the mouth feeds off of the carbs and sugars that this bread leaves behind.

When the bacteria is feeding on the sugars, this breaks down in the mouth as harmful acid that can eat through the enamel on the outside of the teeth. This is what causes all of the problems in the mouth that would otherwise be avoided if the person did not consume the white bread at all. Many other countries actually find the bread in the US bad tasting because of the excessive sugars that are put into it. Choosing another option is the best way to go.
