I grew up in Jefferson, Texas, and have practiced dentistry in Lindale, Texas, since 2001 under the direction of Dr. John Watkins, who began Center for Implant and General Dentistry. I received my bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University, and attended Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas to earn my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Beginning in 2005, I began to study the science of implant dentistry at Misch International Implant Institute in Detroit, Michigan. The course was taught by Dr. Carl Misch, a true pioneer of implant dentistry. Dr. Misch developed the Implant Institute (MIII) in 1984 to help set and elevate the standard of care in implant dentistry using a hands-on training approach. Now world renown, the Institute's unique approach to provide the most progressive and documented information and extensive hands-on experience has awarded its graduates with experiences they will use throughout their careers. In 2009, I was awarded the prestigious Fellowship Award from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
I pride my practice on continuing education, and insure that my staff and I keep up with the latest and best techniques to offer our patients. This allows us to be diverse in practice, and provide you outstanding choices in dental care. To better serve patients, I received my advanced laser certification from Dr. Robert Gregg and Dr. Delwin McCarthy, co-founders of Millenium Dental Technologies in Cerritos, California.
More “stuff” about me includes being the 2007 President of the Smith County Dental Society, and volunteer roles with Bethesda Medical Clinic and Texas Missions of Mercy. I actively participate in various dental organizations such as the American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, East Texas Dental Society, and enjoy an advanced study group called the Joint Based Study Club made up of a select group of dentists throughout the area. I do not say all this to brag….just to prove that I am always working to make myself a better dentist for my patients.
I am very excited about our newly renovated practice in East Texas. Not only do I believe in educational growth for my staff, I believe in educating patients by providing them the necessary information to make good decisions concerning dental health. The layout and details provided in our practice are centered on modern technological patient care and education.
When I am not playing “dentist”, I enjoying traveling with my family and spending time with friends, as well as watching the Dallas Cowboys! Not to mention, I love a great round of golf. However, my “home away from home” is your location for the best dental care we can provide. While you’re here, ask to see pictures of my wife Wendy, and my two children, Miles and Marley Jo. I have a few lying around!
